Debut Dagger deadline and other stuff

Alright, all you lollygaggers. If you’re still thinking about entering the Debut Dagger competition, WARNING. There are fast approaching deadlines and time zones over there aren’t like ours. They’re ahead of ours. You can’t trust your clock. Give yourselves lots of time. This, from the Debut Dagger’s beleagured webmaster, Roger:

“With the closing date fast approaching, we urge you not to leave your online entry until the last minute, not least because there are a couple of traps for the unwary. First, we apply the deadline strictly on UK time, closing the competition as February 5th turns into February 6th. If you are on the US or Canadian West Coast your clock may read 4 pm on Saturday, but by then it will be too late.

“Secondly, if you have a PayPal account do make sure that your details are up-to-date. If when you go to pay your entry fee you discover that your credit card has expired or changed since you last used PayPal, your payment will be refused and it may be too late to put things right.”

Got that, everybody? Put in your entry early enough that you have time to correct any glitches. Otherwise, it’s next year for you, and we don’t want that, do we?

In other news, I’m the guest blogger today on the Killer Chicks blog: Mythos, Murder and Mayhem! They’re running my blog post about how I got published. Gotta love the webpage logo those chicks have. Check it out: isn’t it terrific?

And finally, one of the funniest online ‘videos’ I think I’ve seen, funnier because I know the Scottish Noir agent/author Al Guthrie. Watch this spoof of Al and a client discussing how a ‘great f*cking book’ can only be marketed online because it’s too good to be published. Pure genius!
