I have just received confirmation that I’ll be participating in the Kingston Writers Festival with my old pal, Bobby Rotenberg, on a panel entitled “When Lawyers Turn to Crime.” I have a cottage about a half hour away from Kingston, so really looking forward to going and maybe even doing a little R & R at the same time.
Here are the details:
Peggy Blair & Robert Rotenberg
Thursday, September 27, 2012
2:30-3:30 pm
Islandview Room, Holiday Inn Waterfront
Event description: Two criminal lawyers enter the dark world of crime fiction with critically praised new mysteries. Peggy Blair, who has worked as both a criminal defence lawyer and crown prosecutor, makes her mystery debut with The Beggar’s Opera, set in steamy contemporary Cuba and pitting Canadian detective Mike Ellis against Inspector Ramirez, head of Havana’s major crimes unit. Joining Blair is Robert Rotenberg, still a practicing criminal lawyer and author of Old City Hall, The Guilty Plea, and now, Stray Bullets, crime thrillers that draw on Rotenberg’s insider knowledge of the shadowy corridors of Toronto’s courthouses to animate his inimitable detective, Ari Greene. Moderated by Eric Friesen.

Sorry I’ll have to miss this event Peggy – I’m having both hips replaced on July 9 & don’t expect to be mobile before early October – Perhaps you’ll be at the Ottawa Writer’s Festival this fall?? Last year I attended a luncheon downtown featuring your buddy Ian Rankin… All the best, JW
Haven’t been invited yet; fingers crossed!
Good luck with the surgery — from what I hear, you’ll feel better almost instantaenously!
