I am very happy to live in a city where our mayor is supportive of the arts, unlike Toronto whose mayor claimed to have never heard of Margaret Atwood. Sigh.
While he couldn’t make it to my book launch last week, Mayor Jim Watson sent me a very nice letter quoting from the National Post book review of The Beggar’s Opera. (He also tweeted about the launch that night and about the book review of TBO that appeared in the Ottawa Citizen on Sunday. Can’t ask for much more than that from a busy politician.)
